Hello!
Welcome to my first blog post, I'm just going to give a brief description of who I am and why I'm blogging.
So, my name is Louise, I'm 22 years old and I live in the UK. I'm originally from the Isles of Scilly (pronounced silly) a beautiful group of islands off the South West coast of Cornwall - Often described as the UK's answer to the Caribbean!
When I was 11 my mum, sister and I moved to Cornwall and I lived there until I went to Cardiff for University. I dropped out of University after two years, partly due to my health, partly because I failed the course, but I was incredibly relieved as I ended up hating Mathematics. I love the city of Cardiff and the Cystic Fibrosis Centre is amazing so I decided to stay.
I've definitely struggled with what to do since dropping out of University. I have been focusing on my health and trying to get myself to a happy and stable level. Which now seems possible due to a drug called Trikafta; I started taking it in February 2020 and after only a few weeks I noticed massive changes! I will talk about this more in another post. I've been bored a lot (and not just due to lockdown), I know I have some brains in there but they aren't getting used at all. I've tried a couple of online courses but it always starts with great intentions and after a couple of weeks I end up uninterested. But I have applied to take a College course in October 2020, so I'm just crossing my fingers that it will be able to go ahead!
I have thought many times about getting a part time job but due to the amount of medications I do every day I only have a limited amount of time in which I could go to a job and even then there's quite a lot I wouldn't be able to cope with, for example something which requires you to be on your feet all day as I get tired a lot quicker than someone else might. I used to waitress and I did enjoy it, most of the time, but I wasn't good at looking after myself and I would rather take care of my health than have a job at the moment. I've also been looking into volunteering but obviously at the moment I'm unable to do anything as I'm part of the 'extremely vulnerable' group due to Covid-19 and have been shielding alone for 11 weeks now.
I'm a very social person and love to chat (whist creating this site I was on the phone to a friend for 2 hours!), so whatever I do after lockdown it will be something where I can meet people. That's probably part of the reason I loved posting on Instagram for CF awareness month, and why I'm writing this blog. It's a great way to spread awareness whilst also meeting people with similar interests and being able to tell the readers my funny stories.
I hope I can keep this as a regularly updated site, however due to having Cystic Fibrosis it may have to take a back seat from time to time so bare with me please! For those who don't know what CF is, I plan on doing a post specifically about it so don't worry, in the mean time if there are any questions give my Instagram a follow and send me a message or use the contact page on here :)
Thank you for reading my first ever blog post I hope you enjoyed it and continue to enjoy this site as the blogs get published xoxo
P.S. Considering what has recently happened in America and what continues to happen across the world, I'd like to show my support and remind you that Black Lives Matter. Yes all lives matter but right now, it is black lives that are in danger. If you want to find out how you can help in anyway, there is a link in my Instagram Bio. Thank you again xx
